Why Teach Leadership in Secondary Schools

For five years, CID International's Discovery program has been operating in dozens of secondary schools across the DRC. The accumulated experience confirms that teaching leadership from adolescence produces lasting results in self-confidence, academic performance, and youth community engagement.

Students who participate in the program show a notable improvement in their communication and problem-solving skills. Teachers also report a significant decrease in absenteeism and an increase in classroom participation among program beneficiaries.

CID's pedagogical approach is based on experiential learning: students don't just listen to theoretical lectures, they carry out concrete projects in their communities. This active methodology promotes a deep anchoring of acquired skills and develops a sense of initiative.
