Women's Leadership in the DRC: Challenges and Outlook

The question of women's leadership in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been at the heart of CID International's concerns since its founding. Despite cultural and structural barriers, an increasing number of Congolese women are reaching positions of responsibility in both the public and private sectors.

Through the Discovery program, CID pays special attention to the participation of young girls. Dedicated workshops address topics such as self-confidence, public speaking, and project management. The results are encouraging: over forty percent of CID program participants are women.

The Advance! program regularly organizes conferences on women's leadership, inviting Congolese women leaders to share their journeys and strategies for overcoming gender-related challenges in the professional world. These gatherings create a space of solidarity and inspiration for participants.

CID International is committed to increasing the proportion of women in its programs to fifty percent by 2027, by expanding partnerships with girls' schools and adapting its methodologies to meet the specific needs of young Congolese women.
